This project was originally built in 1888 as the Mississippi City Courthouse and Jail. Mr. Shaw, under is his MS firm, was retained to restore and renovate the original building and design a 2,000 SF addition in preparation for use by the Harrison County Department of Leisure Services. The original building was two floors of roughly 1,000 SF per floor. The addition to the west was two floors of approximately the same size.
In 2005, the original building was destroyed by Hurricane and the 1988 additional sustained heavy damage. It was later demolished by the City of Gulfport and rebuilt years later.
Originally built in 1903 as the Durham Building, this building was later known as the Northrup’s building and M. Salloum’s Department Store. The completed second floor law offices included private offices, secretarial areas, lobby, meeting rooms, conference rooms, a library and support spaces.
